The Goldsmiths' Centre is the UK's leading charity for the professional training of Goldsmiths. Formed in 2012, they provide hands on experience to trainees interested in jewellery, silversmithing and the surrounding trades in a unique community - often working with professional and experienced goldsmiths - aiming to create a skilled workforce, promote craftsmanship and creativity in the UK economy. 

Crossover were proud to take lead in the complete AV overhaul of The Goldsmiths' Centre Exhibition Room in preparation for the site's 5th anniversary celebrations. There was stiff competition for this project, but Crossover's design, specification, and pedigree in delivering first class audiovisual environments for these types of flexible, multi-use corporate event spaces shone through. 

This beautifully-designed building located in the heart of Clerkenwell is very heavily-used for a wide variety of external events the year-round, so the brief was for the AV to deliver world class presentation facilities and for this to be coupled with a very simple control system that is as straightforward and intuitive possible to use.

Crossover were asked to provide a flexible, multipurpose AV system to completely overhaul the existing audio-visual technology within the main events space. This included a new and high-quality loudspeaker system by world leading manufacturer Martin Audio; making it appropriate for microphone and background music reinforcement. The space needed zoning capabilities as moveable acoustic partition can divide the room into two spaces which can be used independently of each other. 

When divided, each room has a projection system that is fully motorized and powered from a single button. Both projectors are be mounted to ceiling lifts that retract into the ceiling space when not in use, providing a visually-discreet solution maintaining the clean lines of the aesthetic in these spaces.

To operate the elements of the system a series of sophisticated control solutions were integrated to provide a simple experience for all staff, at all technical abilities. This included; 

• A wired touch panel located at the front of the Exhibition room, that controls the whole room when the partition was open. This automatically adjusts to control on the front space when the space is partitioned. 
  
• An in-wall keypad for the rear space of the Exhibition room, offering simple control of the 'one-third division' when the space is partitioned. 
  
• A roaming iPad that will control the whole of the main events space when used as a conferencing space. 

The feedback from the client before, during and after we delivered the project was very positive, and we're hoping to build a close ongoing positive working relationship in the years to come!
